
Majorcan wine appeared previously in the relevant literature on gourmet and wine rarely or only in passing. The current bodegas in Mallorca are at best 20 years old, which is quite surprising, as the wine goes back to Mallorca to ancient times. But after the phylloxera raging in Europe had finally reached the island, many vineyards were replaced by almond trees in Mallorca. In the sixties came the wine by the booming tourism completely into oblivion. Only in the eighties, some winemaking families pondered again and newcomers to the tradition of good conditions discovered on the island for unusual wine creations.
